pgp armor cleaner
"-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----xyz123..." all on one line? chat apps love to destroy armored blocks by eating newlines. paste the mess below - the cleaner rebuilds proper line breaks and reports exactly what it fixed. with javascript everything stays in your browser; without it, a plain form does the same repair in server memory.
privacy: with javascript enabled, the repair is pure text formatting in your browser - nothing is parsed, stored or transmitted. without javascript this form posts to the server, where your paste is cleaned in memory - never stored, never logged, discarded when the response is sent. the javascript path is preferred; both produce identical results.
faq
- what exactly gets repaired?
- newlines inserted after the -----BEGIN header and before the -----END footer, body lines re-wrapped to the standard 64 characters, windows line endings normalized, stray spaces inside the armor removed, the optional =checksum line kept intact, and a trailing newline added.
- it still fails after cleaning
- then characters are genuinely missing - usually the last line was cut off during copy-paste. compare the length with the original source; there is no way to invent missing base64.
- does this read my keys?
- no. with javascript on, the repair is pure text formatting in your browser - it never parses, stores or transmits anything. without javascript the paste is cleaned in server memory and immediately discarded.
- do i even need this?
- our encrypt / decrypt / sign / verify tools already clean armor automatically on paste. this page is for when you need a fixed copy to paste somewhere else - other software is rarely that forgiving.
