what is njalla?
njalla is a privacy-focused domain registrar co-founded by the operator of the pirate bay. its twist on the registrar business: njalla itself owns the domain registration and leases the usage to you, so your name, address and phone number never enter the public whois system at all. payment options include monero and bitcoin.
for sites that may attract takedown attempts, this model adds a layer of separation between the owner's identity and the domain. njalla accepts registrations for onion services too, and its panel manages dns, ssl and forwarding for both clearnet and tor domains. the official tor address lets customers manage all of this without connecting from an identifiable ip.
below you see the registrar's onion endpoint with live machine status: reachability over tor, last measured response time and the rolling weekly uptime that tells you whether today's outage is an exception or a pattern.
before you trust any of this
- .onion addresses are long on purpose. one wrong letter = someone else's server.
- if a service matters to you, cross-check its address against its own clearnet site or PGP-signed announcements.
- a green badge here means "reachable", never "trustworthy". we report reachability only.
