Internet Archive[official]

what is internet archive?

the internet archive, nonprofit home of the wayback machine since 1996, launched its official onion service in march 2026: one address covering the entire archive.org domain - web history, books, audio, video, the software collection.

for researchers and journalists the draw is obvious: browsing decades of archived material without linking your ip to your reading list. the archive frames it as part of its universal-access mission, and the onion is wired into the main site via the onion-location header tor browser understands.

the address tracked here is the one from the archive's own announcement and live header. forty years of web memory behind one onion door - the badge tells you it is open.

before you trust any of this

• .onion addresses are long on purpose. one wrong letter = someone else's server.
• if a service matters to you, cross-check its address against its own clearnet site or PGP-signed announcements.
• a green badge here means "reachable", never "trustworthy". we report reachability only.
