what is ahmia?
ahmia has been indexing onion services since 2014 and is one of the few onion search engines with an open, reputable operator: the finnish developer juha nurmi. its abuse filtering keeps child sexual abuse material out of the index - ahmia blocks it actively, which is precisely what separates it from the lawless copycats.
ahmia has also been shipped as a default search option in the tor browser, which makes it many users' first stop on the network. the service publishes its own onion address on ahmia.fi with an explicit clone warning: the real one starts with juhanurmihxlp77 and ends with 4csyd.onion.
the address tracked here is exactly that official one. search results are only as trustworthy as the index, but the connection itself - anonymous, inside tor, unfiltered by your isp - is what the badge below verifies.
